Dear Zane,
You asked how we celebrated Passover before the war. I remember it very
well. My parents had their own house, a Russian stove and their own cow,
chicken, ducks, we always had chicken or duck schmaltz. I remember my father
going to the attic and bringing Passover supplies, special Passover pots, we had a mortar and pestle to grind matzo into matzo meal, and my mother baked matzo babkas and pancakes, they were delicious. I remember the first Seder with candles, a beautiful tablecloth, matzo, wine, greens. The second Seder, my father put on his tallit and prayed. I was still very young and I don’t remember much else.
Best wishes and happiness to all my friends, American and Russian.
Amen!!!
